As a Visiting Professor of Economic and Political Sciences at INSEAD, Nikolaos (Nikos) Vettas has taught courses in its MBA, Executive MBA and Ph.D. programs. He has a B.A. (1989) from the University of Athens, Greece and an M.A. and Ph.D. (1994) in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He has been an Associate Professor at Duke University, USA  he has received teaching awards for teaching at the MBA programs of both Duke and INSEAD. He is currently a Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business and his main research and teaching interests are in the areas of industrial organization, microeconomic theory, game theory and the economics of information.

He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Industrial Organization and of the Journal of Industrial Economics. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics and a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research, London, UK. He has been a Member of the Greek Competition Commission and is a member of the Economic Advisory Group for Competition at the European Commission.

Vettas recent research is in Industrial Organization theory (primarily through applications of game theory). This includes product differentiation, competition with capacity constraints, investment under uncertainly, industry dynamics and learning, competition policy, auctions and deregulation policies. His articles have been published in the Economics Letters, European Economic Review, International Economic Review, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Industrial Economics, Mathematical Social Sciences, Rand Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies and other journals.
